Chromecast with Google TV now shows live video from Nest Cam

Google announced this week that Google TV users will soon be able to cast their compatible Nest Cam devices, including the Nest Doorbell, to their TV.

After introducing Nest’s video previews to the Pixel’s In Brief widget, the firm is now focusing on its latest streaming dongle. People who use Chromecast with Google TV can watch Nest footage directly on their TVlikewise, users shouldn’t have to wait long to use this option.

Instead of using a separate app or annoying popups, the experience will be powered by Google Assistant. Users can activate the live stream by pressing the voice actions button on the remote or by using any Assistant-powered speaker as well as a connected display.

Either way, you’ll tell Google which camera you want to see on your TV.

  • Chromecast Voice Remote: Just say the name of the device you want to use to stream the show live using your voice remote. For example, to see your doorbell footage, just say “Show me the front door camera”
  • Other devices compatible with Google Assistant: Say “Hey Google, show me the front door camera on my TV” using your Nest speaker or display
