OM are not yet fully satisfied on the transfer market. The Marseille club is looking for another central defender to complete its squad. Eric Bailly is targeted but, in the event of failure in the file, OM will turn to Lazio and Francesco Acerbi.
Seven points in three matches, OM have made a solid start to the season. Some could almost think of a perfect start to the season if defensively the Marseille club did not show some weaknesses. In three games, OM have always conceded a goal giving themselves a few cold sweats from time to time. The defensive level can and must be further improved as the start of the Champions League approaches. Pablo Longoria knows this and is already busy completing the arrival of a new central defender after Chancel Mbemba, Samuel Gigot and Isaak Touré.
Francesco Acerbi, OM’s guaranteed plan B
Eric Bailly is clearly the priority track of the Marseille president. However, if the arrival of the Ivorian defender does not happen, the Spaniard has more than one trick up his sleeve. His plan B comes from Italy and Lazio Rome, it is Francesco Acerbi. The 34-year-old Italian international saw his entourage recently surveyed by the Marseille club as reported by L’Equipe.
🚨 OM are thinking of Francesco #Acerbi in order to strengthen their defensive sector.
💡 The French club have already approached the player’s entourage. #Inter also are in talks with the Italian defender.

His experienced profile appeals to the Marseille management and the transfer seems largely feasible. Acerbi is ready to leave his club to start a new adventure elsewhere and Lazio will not put a spoke in his wheels. Acerbi took part in 30 Serie A games last season, but this season they have not started a game and are threatened by competition from Romagnoli, who recently arrived at the club. It therefore represents a good deal even if OM should not drag on because Inter are also in the running, dreaming of a loan for a player with 25 selections with the Squadra Azzura.
