Great news ! Kickstarter MMO Untamed Isles loses in big crypto bet, can’t refund backers

For those who don’t know what Untamed Isles This is a MMOs taming monster funded on Kickstarter that drew comparisons to the famous franchise, pokemon. People donated enough to exceed the goal by 420% of what they initially asked for.

As recently as August 1, developer Phat Loot Studios planned to Untamed Isles which will be launched on October 6 this year. However, 10 days later they announced on Steam that the game was going to be paused.

The reason for this much-needed delay is simple: the recent crash in the cryptocurrency market. In more official terms, the developers faced development financial issues after their big bet on investing in crypto.

“We leaned into the crypto market and grew rapidly thanks to the positive interest. When the crash happened, we found ourselves heavily exposed with a track that was too short. The game remains game-first, crypto-second in design, but crypto funds have become, and remain, essential in getting us to the exit. They elaborate in their blog post.

Although there are no specific details of the money that went into their crypto, so there is no knowledge of how much was lost to the company. The context of the cryptocurrency market as a whole does not paint a positive picture. Bitcoin has fallen from a peak of over $67,000 to $23,370 at the time of writing.

It is unknown when development of the game will resume and when it will be released. Although Phat Loot Studios be confident that they will be able to have Untamed Isles in the future and thank their community for their support.
