Indian carmaker Ola Electric has confirmed it is working on an electric car and said it will arrive in 2024. Bhavish Aggarwal, CEO and co-founder of Ola Electric, called it “the most ambitious automotive project undertaken by India”. As of now, the company has yet to reveal how the car will look, but they have released a teaser that gives an idea of the design it should have.
Among the confirmed elements regarding the electric car project, perhaps the most important is the autonomy of the car. Confirming our exclusive from last week, Bhavish Aggarwal said the electric car will have a range of over 500 km per charge.
In addition, the car will be India’s “sportiest car”, as claimed by Ola Electric, which states that it will be able to go from standstill to 100 km/h in just 4 seconds. Some design elements have also been confirmed, including a low drag coefficient of 0.21, which means the car will be extremely aerodynamic and play a big role in delivering the advertised mileage per charge.
A curvaceous design language helps it look as streamlined as seen in the teasers. The car will also have a full glass roof and will not only be keyless but also handleless as mentioned by Bhavish Aggarwal.
Finally, the car will run Move OS, Ola Electric’s infotainment system software, when it launches in 2024.
For the moment, this is the only information revealed by Ola Electric on its next electric car. We can expect more announcements to be made next year when the company is close to finalizing more details about the vehicle, like its exact appearance and the features it will come with.
