Ligue 2: Bordeaux wins in Laval and takes the lead in the Championship

Traveling to Laval this Monday evening at the end of the 10th day of Ligue 2, Bordeaux obtained a difficult but very important success (2-1). The Girondins entered the game perfectly and were rewarded by Josh Maja’s opener in the 5th minute of play, following a magnificent combination from a corner.

The locals, however, did not abdicate and Julien Maggiotti allowed his team to equalize after returning from the locker room on a loss of ball from the Gironde defense (56th). At the end of a confused action, Honduran striker Alberth Elis then offered his first goal of the season, well served by a heel from Zuriko Davitashvili (69th).

A confusing ending

Not too much in difficulty throughout the meeting, the Bordelais suffered in the last ten minutes. They first thought they saw Geoffray Durbant equalize with a nice crossed header, but the Laval striker’s goal was finally refused for an unclear offside (81st).

In additional time, the same Durbant was launched deep and collapsed in the penalty area, claiming a penalty (90th + 3). The Laval striker finally received a yellow card for simulation when he seemed to be hooked by the arm by Clément Michelin, at the edge of the surface.

After this last action, Bordeaux finally won their fourth victory in the last five matches. A success synonymous with first place in Ligue 2, tied on points with Amiens. For its part, Laval remains 13th with a small point ahead of the first relegated Rodez, 17th.
