The hour is approaching. It is indeed on October 6 that Google will present its new range of smartphones, the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro. Without waiting, and thanks to the many leaks, rumors, and official statements from the Mountain View firm, we can already get a fairly clear idea of what they will look like. Let’s do a check in.

Last May, we already got a glimpse of the design of the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro. But it’s during the Made by Google event to be held on Thursday, October 6, 2022 that the tech giant will unveil its new smartphones.

From October 6, we should therefore have access to pre-orders, while the first deliveries would arrive on Thursday, October 13. Google hasn’t officially confirmed these dates, however, and it’s still possible there will be delays. Some sources thus speak of an arrival in stores rather on October 18.

What is the price of the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro?

For now, the Pixel 6 is sold at a price of €649 in France and the rest of Europe. For its part, the Pixel 6 Pro starts at 899 €. If American prices should remain the same, there is a real risk that they will increase on the old continent.

In question: the euro-dollar parity which could well inflate the bill, as has already happened in the case of the Apple iPhone 14. There is therefore strong reason to fear that prices will soar even if it is still too early to confirm it.

What is the spec sheet of the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro?

The first images that have reached us of these new devices reveal a design relatively close to that of the Pixel 6 range. It will be possible to choose between three colors for each model. It will be for the Pixel 7: black, white and lemon yellow. For its part, the Pixel 7 Pro will be offered in black, white, and gray green.

The major asset of the Pixel 7 and Pixet 7 Pro will undeniably be the new Tensor G2 chip. If Google does not communicate very little on this subject, but we already know that the latter will offer improved performance and very concrete developments.

As for the Pixel 7’s photo sensors, we can expect a design quite similar to that of the previous range. On the other hand, the Pixel 7 Pro should benefit from a new GM1 type telephoto sensor manufactured by Samsung.

These two new models should also have 128 GB, 256 GB and 512 GB storage capacities. Finally, the Pixels 7 and Pixel 7 Pro would offer 8 and 12 GB of RAM respectively.

What do we know about the new Tensor 2 / Tensor G2 chip in the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro?

The Tensor G2 which will be offered on the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro is manufactured by Samsung in 4 nm. If we do not yet know its exact specifications, some leaks already allow us to get an idea.

Benefiting from a 2+2+4 core cluster, just like its predecessor the Tensor GS101, the Tensor G2 is therefore made up of two large cores and four small cores. Technical improvements should, however, guarantee a 10-15% improvement in performance according to Geekbench. It will then be necessary to judge concretely, how this translates into the use of the telephone on a daily basis.

Also note that Google should upgrade its GPU with the arrival of a Mali-G710 instead of the G78. What offer increased performance of about 20%.

Will the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro be good in photos? What are photo sensors worth?

The Pixel 7 could offer a 50MP main photo sensor, as well as a 50MP ultra-wide-angle camera. Everything would be combined with an 8 Mp front camera. If this turns out to be correct, we would have a nice evolution on the side of the wide-angle camera compared to what Google offered in the past.

We also mention the presence of a 50 Mp Samsung Isocell GN1 sensor, as well as a 12 megapixel Sony IMX381 sensor for the ultra wide-angle. This suggests a small improvement over previous models.

Google had already teased its new Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro in May, and as we noticed then, the design should remain relatively close to the Pixel 6. We can however note certain modifications, and in particular the fact that the case of the The rear camera is expected to wrap around the frame of the phone, it will also be metallic instead of the black glass used before.

It’s still unofficial, but the Pixel 7 could measure 155.6 x 73.1 x 8.7mm, with an 11.44mm camera bump. The Pixel 7 Pro Pixel 7 Pro is said to measure 163 x 76.6 x 8.7mm, with an 11.2mm camera bump.

Finally, while the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro were water and dust resistant to IP68, these new models should be too.
